Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, on 1st January 1962. The refinery is located in the city of Guwahati, situated on the banks of the mighty river Brahmaputra. As you enter the city from the airport, the scenic view of the sunlight sparkling on the flowing water enthralls you and the old river welcomes you with open arms. Guwahati Refinery caters to the fuel needs of Northeast India along with Digboi and almost single handedly handles the ATF demand of the busy Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi airport. The products of Guwahati Refinery are mostly evacuated through pipeline with the help of Guwahati Siliguri Pipeline and some quantity is also evacuated through tank trucks.
